We are excited to share FREE summer camp opportunities offered with communitny partners this July and August. These camps are designed to empower youth with hands-on learning, real-world connections, and fun experiences in climate science and gardening! Please share with your networks of teachers, students, and their parents/guardians. Dates and themes and intended audience is indicated below:
Sprouting Science Camps
For: Youth of Black Ancestry/African descent in grades 4-6
Cost: FREE
In partnership with Imhotep’s Legacy Academy, Sprouting Science camps explore plant science and gardening through hands-on experiences with hydroponics, planting, and garden-based learning. Campers will dive into topics like growing food, environmental science, and sustainable agriculture while connecting with their local community.
Registration is prioritized for youth living in the communities closest to each garden/camp location:

Spots are limited—All participants expressing interest will be added to a waitlist automatically to allow Discovery Centre staff to ensure participants from the intended audience get first priority registration in the camp. By adding yourself to this camp's waitlist you are applying for the camp; It does not mean that you have been automatically accepted to camp. Emails will be sent to all registrants about whether they are accepted to camp or not.

Ocean Action Camp presented by Divert NS
For: youth in grades 4-6
Cost: FREE
Dive into ocean science and climate action! Campers will become environmental ocean champions as they explore sustainability, waste reduction, and marine ecosystems through hands-on activities and exciting challenges.
Note: To help address inequities in opportunities within STEAM education, this camp has priority registrations for equity-deserving (BIPOC) candidates.
